Product safety: EU regulation in force
In May 2023, Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety was published in the EU Official Journal. The regulation must be applied directly in all member states from December 13, 2024.
The Regulation applies in full to all consumer products placed or made available on the market from this date that are not subject to specific EU legislation on the safety of the products concerned (e.g. Machinery Directive, Low Voltage Directive, etc.)

Where can you find suitable test centers?
Products must meet certain health and safety requirements if they are to be placed on the European single market. Many potentially dangerous products must be tested to ensure that they meet these legal requirements before they can be sold. Notified test centers have been set up throughout Europe for this purpose and you will find contact details on the following pages.
